Something About: Serenaro

il Famoso di cesena

The famoso di Cesena is an almost-unknown grape variety that was for many years believed extinct. Two old rows of these vines were re-discovered in the early 2000s.
In the early 1900s, it was grown in our area as a table grape; its name, famoso, derived from the dialect words, sfamare, or to relieve of hunger.
The mysterious history of this semi-aromatic grape intrigued us. Our famoso di Cesena vineyard faces northeast, towards the Adriatic. It’s a bit capricious in the vineyard and requires a lot of attention, and while the wine is not excessively complex, it prefers lengthy macerations.

Those are the origins of our Serenaro!
